Weeks… just weeks.

That’s the only thing Sara can think about lately. Which is why she can’t stop her leg from bouncing here in Cypress’ apartment, even though there’s cake right here at the table in front of her. Cake with gorgeous frosting, begging for her to eat it…

“Wow, you really have something on your mind,” Cypress comments.

Well, of course she does.

It’s something important… meaningful… life-changing… and oh shit, she hasn’t told Cypress about it yet, has she?

Sara is very good at this friendship thing.

“Uh,” she says. “Well, I might have news. Maybe.”

Cypress raises her eyebrow in a telling way. The thing it tells Sara is that she doesn’t trust this maybe at all.

And she shouldn’t.

“Yeah so I might be getting turned in like a few weeks, maybe next week? We’re not sure but—“

“Wait, wait. You can’t just breeze through a sentence like that!”

Sara shrugs, bashfully glancing away. “I… I guess I can’t. It’s just… habit.”

“Yeah, I noticed.”

“Anyway, if you’ll stop teasing me for two seconds, I can tell you more?”

Now Cypress outright leans back with interest. “There’s more?”

By Beauty, this feels weird—Sara’s really just talking about this? Saying the thing that will change her life irrevocably aloud to her best friend? She’s not sure that’s how this is supposed to work. “I’m… well, I decided, uh. That I’m going to have them all bite me. At once.”

“Huh,” Cypress says with a bit of surprise. “All… four?”

“No, all six—“

“You have six now?”

“Okay, I totally thought I had told you about that one,” Sara says. “In my defense.”

“That’s a really shitty defense and you know it.”

“Um, so, I did start dating Aria. You know, the one who—“

Cypress’ expression darkens. “Yeah, I know the one. The person who screwed over my entire life? Yup. Anyway, go on.”

“And… this woman from my kink club.”

“Oh, you’re back at it! Nice.”

Sara’s really not sure what she did to get such a supportive friend. It doesn’t seem quite fair, given how bad at friendship she herself is. Wait, maybe that means she should make it up to her? Maybe by… asking her about her life?

“So, uh,” Sara says. “About that thing where your life is getting screwed over, how’s that going?”

Cypress sighs. “I’m most of the way through the piece. I’m going for a mounted film, like a moving picture. Some of the materials for the mounting, though…”

“Hard to come by?”

“Yup. Anyway, screw Aria. Unless you’re already doing that?”

“No, I’m really more into whipping—“

“Then punish them for me, okay?”

Sara tilts her head. “You know, that’s really not how it works…”

“Whatever,” Cypress says with a shrug, and takes a bite of her cake.

The cake that Sara is totally free, morally, to eat, now that she’s told Cypress about what’s going on in her life and therefore doesn’t need to bounce her leg all over the place anymore. Yes. Sara is very logical.
